Re: Can my jar be TOO clean?

I would say that as long as your shrimp are breeding, they are pretty much "ecstatic". :) However, if you do want to increase biofilm/algae growth on your rocks and glass, then you can maybe try feeding a little more every time, or feed every 2 months instead of every 4 months. However, be...

Re: This won't be my last stupid question...

Yes, it's fine. Just take out as much water as you can out of your tank, mix the salt into it in a different container, and then pour the water back into your tank.

Re: Brown mold?

No need to clean the substrate...or anything. It's just normal biofilm. Just stop feeding until the shrimp and snails eat it all up. That may take a few months.... In the meantime, if you want to see your shrimp better, you can clean the glass and leave whatever comes off the glass in the tank. Agai...

Re: 3 shrimp, 3 molts, 1 day

They have finally enough to munch on, so they are digging in...which causes growth. Awesome! :)

Re: Just getting started

Super cute tank! I wanted to mention that my moss ball has been the gift that keeps on giving. It didn’t look like much when it arrived but over the months I’ve divided it several times and have given a few mini balls to my kids for their tanks. I probably have 10 tiny balls in my tank now. The mos...

Re: Restocking an old tank

Seems like your tank has recovered and is doing nicely. No need to mess with the parameters, everything looks fine. I'm pretty sure that if you introduced shrimp now, they would be just fine.

Re: New tank setup

The tanks for Supershrimp don't really need a traditional "cycle". Hence feeding an empty tank is neither necessary nor desired. I don't feed for at least a month or two if it looks like the shrimp are actively picking at things and producing feces. If no algae appear after 2-4 weeks, then...

Thanks for sharing! Do you have larger versions of these pictures? The shrimp are very hard to see.

Forum available again!

Hi folks!

Unfortunately, I noticed just today that the forum was not functioning properly since April 12th when our webhost updated our server. Nobody was able to reply or start new posts. I have fixed this issue and we can all use the forum normally as usual. Sorry about that!

Re: Keeping Blue Leg Hermit Crab with shrimp

Marine species are used to being in a giant ocean where the water is mostly clean and stable and food is relatively readily available. The reason why our shrimp can live in tiny containers for years without much food and not die for all kinds of reasons (starvation being just one of them) is because...

Re: Dust algae

Hmmm...hard to say from the picture, but it is not the type of cyanobacteria that I am talking about. The type I am talking about is usually a deep darkish green and comes off in sheets when you pull on it. Most other stuff is eaten eventually by the shrimp, even other types of cyanobacteria. The sn...

Re: First Time Shrimping

Yes, makes sense that light would accelerate growth. Did the mossball grow in diameter too?
