Re: My Supershrimp Journal
I’m finally making the switch to a different work tank. I moved the rocks and coral from my old work tank into the new work tank. I am not sure if I’ll be able to tell when it has cycled because there’s already algae growing on the coral but I’m hoping I’ll be able to see something on the tank walls...

Re: Mossball and macroalgae help
Finer and feathery is a good description. Here’s a couple of pictures. I let it grow a bit so I could get a better look. I pulled out a bit today and it came out easily like it was just entwined with the other strands, and not attached to anything. Although now I’m noticing something else new - feat...

Re: My Supershrimp Journal
Thank you.
The rocks are small pieces of coral collected off the beach back when it was still legal.

Re: Mossball and macroalgae help
Ok, so I assumed it was hair algae on the coral but now I’m not sure. When I went to pull up the algae off, it wasn’t growing like hair on the coral, but as a clump like the macroalgae, with just one strand or two caught on the coral. It was a small clump, they size of a fat pea, and was softer and ...

Re: My Supershrimp Journal
Sorry for the late reply!
Here’s my home tank. I don’t have a recent pic of the Work tank but I think I’ll be changing it out. The shape of the jar makes it hard to see the shrimp from a sitting position.

Re: Mossball and macroalgae help
The few strands left are growing and there’s a small clump now. The mossball is still the same. The hair algae came back though. It C2968F0F-B037-4F10-8D82-A58E8D5FE05A.jpeg isn’t growing as fast as when it first showed up so I’ll pull it up and hopefully it will eventually stay away. I bought a new...

Re: Mossball and macroalgae help
Thanks for the advice. I don’t remember doing anything different at the time. The hair algae hasn’t come back though so yay. There’s still a few small wisps but that’s it. Here’s a small strand of macroalgae that was leftover and seems to be doing well. Maybe it’ll grow! The shrimp seem ok, found 11...

Re: My Supershrimp Journal
Thanks, I think it’s a half gallon Anchor Hocking jar. I got it at Target. If I could start over I would get the one gallon jar because it’s taller, or maybe one without a shoulder at all. With the half gallon sitting on my desk, the shoulder of the jar makes it hard to see the shrimp from a normal ...

Mossball and macroalgae help
Hi all, I’ve lost my macroalgae clump and it looks like the mossball might be going downhill too. Any advice would be much appreciated! Re: My Supershrimp Journal
More babies this week! I counted 14 floating babies and saw another berried female today. I got a picture with a berried female and a baby floating in the same frame. Blurry but exciting!
Now I'm just waiting for my work tank to start growing.

I totally agree! They are a great at lowering stress and blood pressure, whether from work or a screaming toddler.

Re: Berries!
Wow that is a lot of eggs! I wonder what the clutch size (that's not the right term for shrimp is it?) is a function of. I've seen such wide variation from just 4 up to almost 30.

My Supershrimp Journal
Hi all, just starting my shrimp tank journal thread. IMG_0269.JPG The home tank is doing well. The macroalgae turned white on the top of the clump. I tried to pull off the white parts. There were a few wisps of hair algae growing on the coral but I pulled off what I could with the giant tweezers. Th...
