Hey Tim, Good setup, but looks a little bare. I know Japanese like to set up shrimp tanks just like that, too (bare with some stones and java moss), but I think it's beneficial for the shrimp to have some substrate in there. Go to home depot and get some "Premium Play Sand" and put a 1 inc...

Yes, definitely spoke WAY too soon. Just got off the phone again with the guy and he told me that he has none left and won't be ordering any new ones. Ok...there is one more supplier that I am waiting on...if that does not pan out I have to start getting really creative about getting these guys soon...

They occur all over the caribbean, on almost all islands. The picture on my website is from shrimp that were caught in Cuba. Barbados should have an interesting shrimp fauna, too, so if your friend does not mind taking a net and catching some shrimp and sending them over, I could breed them and make...

I was talking too soon...I just talked to the guy on the phone who is supposed to send me shrimp and he is mumbling something about not having enough of them right now and maybe in a couple of weeks...bla bla bla....it's so frustrating to deal with certain people.

Looks like I am *finally* getting my breeding stock of Crystal Reds this week. So I will be offering the offspring for sale soon also. I was getting desperate, because I have been waiting for these animals for more than a month and had lost hope. So, thanks for the offer, but it looks like I won't b...

The Micratya poeyi are going to be hard to get since there are no commercial exporters for those. I would have to literally go down to the carribbean and catch some myself. Then, there is the problem with breeding them. As far as I know, they need Brackish water to Saltwater for the development of t...

Welcome! I am happy to see that you have decided to get more involved in keeping these fascinating creatures. The Glass Shrimp you are keeping are actually some of my most favorite shrimp. They don't show as much color as other shrimp, but make up with their very interesting behaviors. The next shri...

The Shrimp Shop is open!!!

Hey guys, The shrimp shop at Pethshrimp.com is now officially open. I have put up the first shrimp species (the good old Red Cherry) for sale and more species will be following over the next couple of months as my females produce sufficient numbers of young for sale. Hi Pete! Your Internet Service Provider should have given you some web space with your account. They usually give you about 10MB. You can store pictures there. Or, you can go to http://photos.yahoo.com and start a free account there. Your ISP web space is the best solution, though. Hope this helps. ...

Congrats! There is not much you can do. You just have to make sure that there are no predators in the tank that could eat the babies (they are TINY and even tiny, two month old guppies eat them). If your tank has lots of mulm and some algae or plants, then the young will find enough to eat. They wil...

As you noticed it's very hard to tell the gender of sub-adult shrimp. There are really only subtle differences in sub-adults and those differences are not fool-proof indicators, either. As to the male/female ratio, I seem to see always more females than males with my N. denticulata sinensis "Re...

Did you store the image somewhere online first? It won't work if you are trying to "link" an image that is still on your computer's harddrive.

I only observed that frenzied swimming when something was wrong with them....i.e. not enough food or water change was due. Others have reported, that males do that around mating time. The real reason is up in the air.

As I said before, the problem is that something is leaking into your water from the tank itself. Changing the water won't solve the problem since whater is leaking into the water will do the same thing in the new water.
