I am glad I came upon this! I noticed these guys after I bought a plant at the LFS. A few months later I got some "free" brown ramhorns. started seeing those little white ramsnails, hope they were white babies of the big guys I have. Anyways, these small guys I have are both in a whiteish ...

from what I read about the pearl shrimp on the shrimp varieties a while back I think it likes alkaline water and no acidic? I think the sand substrate is because they burrow, if this is the right shrimp I am thinking of. I concidered there once because, well, i thought it was pretty neat they can di...

I am just glad i know what a sick of dieng shrimp looks like now, even though it is one of mine. so sad. anyways, does the exoskeleton change in any ways also before the death and during the sick? my first thought was that it caught some weird illness. well at least I know it is death and nothing weird. I have seen some crazy looking death shrimp of the palaeomonetese variety, from crazy worms living in them to parts of their shells turning pink (not mine at the store). Never seen a dead/dyin...

something is up with a RCS

Ok so lately in my little cherry colony there is a little guy who sticks out. More than likey a male or a very young female. The said shrimp has its candy cane striping of the males on the shell, but the flesh inside the body seems to be white rather than clearish. Anyone encountered this, know what...

I talk a lot. sorry.

to be honest i have kept aragonite with some of my shrimp a while back to see what was up. The palaemonetes i have do not seem to like the environment it causes. They bred at first but after a few spawns they started to drop and not even have eggs, this could also be they are petstore and probably o...

First off I am not the shrimp expert like most people here, so what I say probably can become contested Well, with the aragonite it will keep the ph at arround alkaline levels (8-8.5). the aragonite acts as a buffer, and also contains small traces of other elements. I don't hear of aragonite being u...

Shrimp porn. oh my!

Well, today while doing my rounds I decided to stare at my Reds. All the females have been saddled up for a while and I have seen several of them motl. Today I saw my shrimp, do it... I have never seen it in action. two males swam up to my brightest red female and dragged her down. She looked a bit ...

Well, one was up next to the glass a few minuters and this colouration seems to be caused by very tiny specks of pigmentation (brownish reddish orangeish colour) and it is dispearsed. Little polkadots of colour barely noticable... smaller than the specks on the palest most transparent rcs I have.
