Here is the FINAL update: I actually had to tear the tank down a month or so ago. It was not in good shape. I already had more tanks then I could handle, and with my most recent injurys it became too much and I found myself neglecting the tank. That mixed with the beetles that kept jumping in result...

I am in college right now...Though not in that 'area'. I'll check and see if I still have access.

Wow! Congrats! This is the same species I had wanted to breed, but I just don't have the space.

Any pictures?

Actually, many, if not most (or even all?) nitrifying bacteria have a wide salinity range. I have personally increased salinity to brackish conditions in cycled freshwater tanks before without losing the cycle. Here is just *one* of many papers that will provide evidence of nitrifying bacteria sali...

Yes, scientific papers can be a challenge to go through, but I personally do enjoy reading them, nomatter how long. I find it very interesting... There has been some work done on the Lysmata shrimp recently, I beleive by Andrew Rhyne and others. I watched his lecture at IMAC. Apparently there are ac...

Fisherman, so how did the logistics of the Mixed SeaVeggies work? Did it sink?
They float for a second or two, then start to sink.

Well, my shrimp LOVED the SeaVeggies. They were stealing it from each other. Quite humerous really. :-)

Yeah, I use it for evaporate top-off as well.

I only mix it half and half with my well water to dilute the natural nitrates and high pH.

Hmmm - I may try this for my shrimp. I have a bottle, but all my fish hate the SeaVeggies flakes.

Hmmm, interesting info badflash.

I use R/O water in most of my tanks.

I buy it from my LFS. I mix it half and half with my well water, because pure R/O doesn't have enough TDS, and their gills end up having to work harder to get oxygen. At least, I think I remembered that correctly.

A very interesting looking hermit.

I can't say that I've seen that species before, but I would need clearer pictures and more data to give an accurate ID. Are there any enlarged cheliped? How big is the hermit?

Looks to be an interesting book - I'll probably pick it up.

Mustafa, are you still working on a book?

Personally I am working on a few articles and profiles.

(Yep, I'm back....sortof. I have had injurys to both my arms, which makes typing painful. I'll drop by when I can.)
