Re: New tank here we go!

That could be caused by the organic matter in the tank, if you have one, use a protein skimmer, if you don't then wait until your tank fully cycles. Now that you have plants that can absorb nitrates created by decayed organic matter, you only have to wait for the foam to decompose and the plants to ...

Re: Do marimo balls survive in brackish water? (Experiment)

Because i didn’t acclimate the marimo it seems it’s diying and the light brown spots have gotten bigger. 3E9BD2A5-6E33-499E-BDC9-1A0DA3D03C6C.jpeg 35B8CE14-B050-4E4F-9787-8D18B3D81B3B.jpeg I’ve moved it to a brackish tank of lower salinity and separated it into pieces. Re: Thriving Tank!

Cool! That’s what also is happening in my cycling tank. I think it’s probably fully cycled because it has been generating bubbles everywhere for a week now. I think shrimp will arrive next monday, any tips?

Re: Do marimo balls survive in brackish water? (Experiment)

I think they will maybe survive. About the hair algae: I have a little bit in my tank (without shrimps) and it seems as it’s very loose and not too healthy. It keepsnup but not too well.
I hope I will have no hair algae infestations.

Re: Have 8-year Old Ecosystem Shrimp - Not sure what to do

Maybe, but only to be sure, I would wait a little bit more so shrimp are safe to survive.

Re: Do marimo balls survive in brackish water? (Experiment)

By now it's doing very well, it has bubbles and doesn't float.
The light brown stains from the start seem to disappear a little bit.

Remember I didn't acclimate the Algae balls to the water.

Re: New to the Forum: Set up tank today

With my personal experience, it is very difficult to get some algae growth without adding anything live in there. As you have many months to go you could ask a friend that has a reef tank about two tablespoons of live sand or a small rock (not tiny). If it’s not the case, you could buy a bit of live...

Re: Is My Chaetomorpha Dying?

Most of the people have thir light at a 12 on/off cycle to control algae and for plants to grow well (mostly chaetos and marimos).
Well, good luck then!

Do marimo balls survive in brackish water? (Experiment)

Hi, while my tank is cycling I want to do a little experiment, can marimo balls survive in brackish water (without adapting it before)? Here’s the first pics: image.jpg image.jpg By the way, the tank is still cycling , therefore, there are still no shrimps. To clean the moss/algae I’m using a paint ...
