Awesome, I actually got some new pipipi snails (Nerite) from the beach yesterday, they're doing their thing ... so far so good ... of course I cut the light down by half.
Thanks again

Re: Too much algae
Thank you so much ... will my shrimp be OK in the dark for most of the day ?
I thought they needed a sleep / wake cycle . You know what I just won't turn on the light on the tank, and just let them get ambient light .
Thanks again

I've been wanting to get some snails, but my pet store did not have the ones I need. I know mystery snails can't live in brackish water can nerite snails ?

What is in my sand ?
I noticed this black stuff in the sand of my tank. (See photos) . It may be old food. I dropped a small bit of shrimp food as a treat for my guys. They swarmed and ate most of it, I later siphoned the leftovers. Could this be old food that settled ? It's just strange, any input would be appreciated....

Get a hydrometer... They are cheap at Petco. I've had no problem with salinity 21-23 ppt.

Re: Strange poop?
They eat the algae in the tank, however my 8 y/o stepdaughter found the spirulina vial, and fed some. They ate it all up pretty fast. They swarmed the top of the tank ( she loved it )...... too much food probably
Thanks for your response.

Strange poop?
My Opae have strange red 'tails' coming off their tails. I only noticed this morning. I have about 20 or so shrimp in this particular tank, and many have this weird thing in various lengths. Is it poop? It's red ?!?

Re: Sick shrimp?
You know some of my shrimp get algae caught in their little legs. I've seen a few just hanging out ' holding' a chunk of algae.
I'm no expert, but I think your little guy is ok.

Sorry, one more thing.
I now have bubbles accumulating. Given my tanks history, is it OK ?
