Tank setup is about 2 months old. Everything in tank purchased from petshrimp. Fed a small amount of spiralina flakes about a week ago and it was all eaten or carried away. Stirred the water to see if the “cloud” layer would dissipate. The cloudiness is starting to separate again toward the bottom of the water column. Shrimp still seem to unaffected. No idea what is happening. This started last night.

Can anyone explain to me what’s going on in my tank? Looks like a fog layer about midway up the water column. Shrimp seem okay, should I be worried?

While watching my shrimp today I noticed some have a dark mass in their thorax and others are very light colored, almost white. Any idea about the color differences?

I attached a photo of my new 2 gal tank. About a week into setup, just waiting until the new shrimp move in.

Thanks, I’ll do that. I keep hearing about “cycling”. How will I know the tank is ready? I know to look for micro algae growth, but is there something definite to key on to know the tank has cycled?
