Re: New Here!
Yes, that's normal. They are primarily burrowing snails. The snails tend to me also mostly nocturnal. Once they get bigger and start reproducing you'll start seeing more and more of them all over the place and also during the day. As for algae growth...it'll come eventually. :) Thanks Mustafa! Can’...

Re: Algae?
It’s biofilm. Your tank is most likely ready for the shrimps if you don’t already have them. That’s how my tank was when I introduced them. It’ll eventually get eaten and cleared up. I have two tanks both without the visible signs of algae. But those guys are eating the microorganisms and they’re pr...

Re: New Here!
It’s been like a week and a half since I got my new shrimps and snails into the 3 gal tank! A few have molted since. Almost everybody turned red so far. My question is with the 10 snails that I ordered, only 2 or so come out to eat or move around. The other 8 burrowed themselves into the sand when I...

Re: Biofilm? Black spots on shrimp? Changing tank?
I believe it’s biofilm in there. That’s what my snails grazed on all the time. They hang upside down eating it. For the coral, you should of washed it. There’s no way really to do it now since it’s already in there. If it’s live or dirty it could contaminate the water. Your shrimp will not eat the s...

Re: New Here!
Give it a few more weeks and it'll happen eventually. :) My guess is that if your snails are happily grazing around that your tank is already ready for shrimp. But you can wait for the algae to be 100 percent sure. Thanks! I think I’m going to go ahead and pull the trigger for the 3 gal tank. I sti...

Re: What substrate color/type best hides poop?
I had the small black gravel pieces but I didn’t like them. I didn’t want my shrimp and snails to get caught under it so I switched to black sand. I don’t have any problems with seeing poop. In fact I hardly see any. Lol

Re: Feeding Discovery
Hmmmmm....I might have to try this. I gave a whole tiny pellet and nobody came to it until like 45 mins later and they were fighting for it. One guy would chase the other away if they got too close to it. I removed it after a little over an hour.

Re: New set up tank, see the picture
There’s a reason why a lot of plants don’t survive in brackish water. I would just stick to the macroalgae or that other mossball that Mustafa sells

Re: New set up tank, see the picture
Your setup looks nice! But be careful with the marimo. It’ll eventually die off. I wanted to get one for myself too but after reading more and more about it, it can’t survive.

Welcome! That’s a nice jar you have there. And yes, please be careful with the marimo. It will eventually turn bad.
