Re: Another Contaminant Species...
wow, that's neat! I hope they continue to prosper. It is interesting how often these bonus surprises appear in shipments.

As someone who was born and raised in Southern California (Orange and Ventura Counties), I know what fire season is like there. The homes that are most at risk are those that are on steep hill sides or in the inland canyon areas. What many people don't realize is that after the fires are out, the ne...

It may be safe, most bags of 'Aquarium Gravel' have been coated with a marine epoxy to seal any toxins into the rock. All high grade gravel I've purchased has been sealed. But then I've also never had gravel stick to my magnetic scrubbers, which fall to my gravel frequently. I let my kids do the gla...

It's very difficult to say that the products you used will be safe. The thing that many people do to ensure that their homemade work is OK to use a solid coating of marine epoxy. That is inert and will not allow any leaching. It's not just copper that is bad. Many components or chemicals in paint co...

As to yours, my first inclination was a female M rosenbergii. Badflash used to breed that species, so he should be able to tell you definitively if it is or not. It is my understanding that the females dong get the same coloration as the males. I could easily be wrong though. The only M. species tha...

I keep, and breed, brigsii (Mystery snails). There are a bunch in my Red Claw shrimp nursery tank. I just have to do more frequent tank cleaning to keep the water quality up to snuff. The snail eggs have to be removed from the tank, because the young shrimp eat the infant snails. I have another tank...

I agree with badflash. Bamboos also need to have the water stirred with something like a power head in the tank. It takes much more time to keep a 2.5 shrimp tank healthy than a 10g tank. In my well established 10g shrimp tanks, I do a weekly 10-15% water change, and biweekly water checks. When my t...

Egg dropping/molting is not regular, but does happen. You may want to verify your water quality as molting can be a sign of stress. Don't keep your hopes up, that the dropped eggs will hatch. Even if they were fertilized, it is most likely that they wont make it. I've read of some people having limi...
