Re: Just getting started

Hang in there. I'm sure future attempts at keeping these shrimp will be more fruitful. Just keep in mind that when in doubt, just do nothing. These shrimp are so different from other pets, and even other shrimp.

Re: First Time Shrimping

Great to hear! It can take a few months before you see berried females. How are the plants doing? Any appreciable growth?

Re: 1st time trying a shrimp tank = failure.

The adhesive on the tape may be poisoning the water. Evaporated and condensed water will drip from it back into your tank, most likely taking chemicals from the adhesive with it back into the tank.

Re: Going back to Black Coral Sea fan

Great decision! Fake is better than getting a real one playing roulette. Most of the time a real sea fan does not work out as there is still too much organic matter attached to it. Like I said before, a lot of the "mysterious deaths" reported by customers happen to have sea fans in them. W...

Re: Keeping shrimp without macroalgae?

Bought it from another hobbyist. Not sure if it is a saltwater species but he managed to keep it alive and well. It looks like the saltwater stuff sold for reef tanks. That stuff always turns white and falls apart over time. The macroalgae available here is a different species/variety that does wel...

That's awesome! How is the algae doing? What is the salinity in your tank?

Re: Lots of questions

Are mts able to live in salt water? I am not sure I understand is it Petshrimp and Mustaffa selling the shrimp of is Mustaffa the owner of Petshrimp? I would like to buy more but I am not sure about shipping charges and weather. I am in Arizona. MTS need to be acclimated slowly to brackish water. O...

Re: Lots of questions

Hey all. I think my tank is about four years old at this point, it is an ecosphere tank with four shrimps in it. Originally I set it up with Mustafa's algae. That algae seemed to grow/become hair algae so I separated it with the help of this forum's advice. Well now it seems all my algae has become...

Re: Snails

Yeah, when snails die and the flesh gets consumed by bacteria (and other snails), the shell becomes pretty light and gets transferred to the top of the substrate by the constant burrowing of the other snails. The good news is that you seem to have lots of reproduction as your substrate is getting mo...

Re: Orange Supershrimp breeding project -- finally!

In a few days to weeks. They won't be cheap, though, due to how few there are in existence currently. Ok, I'll have to correct myself obviously. It's been taking longer than I thought, but they will be available soon. I just wanted to put up information about the two separate lines of orange/yellow...

Re: Orange Supershrimp breeding project -- finally!

Mustafa I believe you have answered one of my most pressing questions. I have several of my shrimp that look like your last picture, dark up in what I would call the main body/spinal area. If what I'm understanding is correct, this means that they are pregnant females making the eggs before they dr...

I wouldn't do it if you want your shrimp to thrive. Different feeding regime (hermits need a lot more food).
