I attended our, Spring Aqurium Club auction yesterday.
And the RCS were a hit. I hope to see the 5 lucky bidders, here soon , for more information on keeping shrimp.
Local cluds are a good place to Trade/Sell your extra Shrimp, when they start to over flow your tanks.
It is also a good place to make good contacts for plants, tanks , and just about anything else you need to keep shrimp.
Just to give you a idea of the good deals, I picked up 2-20gal pre-drilled tanks for $7.00 each. A 125 gal tank with metal stand went for $135.00 and several plants (full bags) for $4.00 each.
I am the first , hopefuly not the last, to keep and breed the RCS. and I have given the Shrimp Bug to several other members of the club.
With the help of this web-site and all of the information given FREELY from its members .
I hope, that the Shrimp Keeping here ,in Michigan will start to grow.
Just my Thoughts
and info.

Local clubs are definitely important to a hobby. Shrimp keepers are usually not well represented in general aquarium clubs, but I am sure that will change in the future. The way the hobby is growing I can also envision specialized local shrimp clubs in the future of this hobby. Plus, I am also going to found a national association at some point, kind of like the american killifish association, american liverbarers association, american cichlic association, etc. etc.. Local clubs and individuals can then become members of this association and become organized. I am already envisioning newsletters, species maintenance programs, breeder databases, annual meetings...etc...etc.
As I always say...this is the very beginning of a new hobby and things will only get better from here.
I, for one, am very excited about it.

Hi IndianaSam
From what I get from the people at the club.
Some are interested in keeping and breeding the Shrimp.
Others are just interested in the BAP Points (Breeder's Award Program)
And the Planted Tank People, use them for maintaining there lovely tanks "low maintenence". And Red is a nice contrast to Green Plants.
It all depends on how bad the people what the Shrimp. And for what reasons.
I am just glad ,I am introducing Shrimp Keeping to new people.
And hope they are interested in it , as much as I am.
Have a Great Day
John
