I'd always thought Amano shrimp had a claw sort of thing on each of their feeding appendages (two pairs), sort of like a crayfish's, only tiny. However, when two of my shrimp sat obligingly by the glass, I examined them with a magnifying glass.
The ends of the appendages are formed from a set of little hairs, like in a filter shrimp! They don't form the neat fan, and aren't as long or nicely arranged, but they're there.
Can someone with dwarf shrimp check to see if they are like this, too? Or are they too small for this to be seen?
Amano shrimp appendages!
