Heat problems

Post by edinjapan »

Lost an entire batch of babies to the heat. As soon as they start to succumb seems like there is nothing that can be done. Cooling the water and other measures don't seem to work.

If your crayfish get overheated the only way to bring them back is to cool the water & super oxygenate the water. As many air stones as you can jam in there.

How does oxygenating the water help against overheating?

It doesn't. It helps the crayfish recover. When the water gets too hot the disolved Oxygen level goes lower than the crays can tolerate. You need to cool them down & oxygenate the water as much as possible.
