Does lighting have an affect on coloration?

Post by theshrimp_123 »

Especially on Amanos. In one of my 2.5 gallon tanks, i was using a blue light, and the new amanos i bought were kind of dark blue (i took them out of water, still blue). Then I started to wonder so i changed to a clear light. Now they are clear with spots. Does lighting have anythink to do with this?

I think that it does, you just proved it yourself by changing the lights and getting the effects you did. I also think that in the wild the shrimp have to camouflage themselve to improve their chances of survival and this is done in changing lighting as well as suroundings. Let us know if you discover any other changes.

Thanks :D
