crystal reds -- highway robbery or fair deal? :S

Post by Acsuth »

I was just quoted a price of $25 each for crystal red shrimp plus $40 S/H...is this nuts..or the going rate? I mean, I heard that these guys don't breed as readily as cherries...but...that's a lot of $!!! :o

Amanda

PS -- my shrimps are doing great now in the shrimp-only tank! I've counted 4 egg-laden females!! :-D

Yay! I'm glad to hear that Amanda. Any idea what went wrong in the other tank?

No...it was two tanks actually...I'm figuring the snails were just too "messy" for them despite all the water changes and filtration...I counted 4 baby shrimp in one of those tanks today that appear just fine...and two male Amanos are also living happily there so far...it's just like those two tanks kill 80% of shrimp and the rest are 100% OK...no clue why...but no more deaths -- and my female Amano is still bright cherry red!

High way robery!!!!!!! I would say just wait like me and one day well discover someone with a hoard of them willing to give them to us on cost cuz we love them so much. Or petshrimp himself will breed some and give us on the board a heads up :)

$25/shrimp is just an insane price. But hey...as it always works in economics, he might actually find someone crazy enough to pay that price if there is demand.

These guys are definitely not as easy to breed as the Red Cherries and will be more expensive. Obviously, I'll sell them once I have them in large numbers....but again, that will probably take a while.

You would think people would churn this shrimp out as much as possible with the prices and demand for them.
