Clam Shrimp

Post by iturnrocks »

I finally hatched some clam shrimp.

Here are some photos I took with the QX5 today. I used a variety of lighting to increase my chances of some better pics.

These pics are at 60x. I cropped the images in photoshop to reduce file size and cut out some of the blank background.

Same image as above filtered in Photoshop with Auto Levels. I think the details are much clearer this way.

I also made an animated .gif (2.09MB) If you would like to see it, pm me for the link.

I got somein a batch of fairy shrimp eggs last year. The ones I had got to the size of baby lima beans. Sort of looks like huge daphnia.

I have some of them in one of my shrimp tanks. I like them in there but will there be any problems if I keep them with my shrimp?

Further note- At first I confused seed shrimp (Ostracods) with clam shrimp. Seed shrimp do resemble tiny clams, but they dont grow as large as clam shrimp and their shells (the ones I have) are not as transparent.
