Fairy shrimp in BC

Post by TKD »

Hi everyone,

I'm doing an amphibian survey with Camosun College and Ministry of the Environment.

We were looking in this gravel pit and found this among the shotgun shells, old appliances and other junk.

I never new we had fairy shrimp here in BC.

That requires a login. Anyway you can fix that?

I am not suprised you have them. I've seen them in pools with ice on them. They are quite wide spread.

Darker red could mean less oxygen in the water. The make more hemoglobin if there isn't enough oxygen.

That would make sence with all the decaying trees and things that were in the pool.
