Pomacea bridgesii vs. Pomacea diffusa

Post by badflash »

While I was at my Son's Karate class today I ran into one of the mothers that is a Biology Professor at a local college. She has access to a gene sequencer and thinks this would be a great project for her students. They also want to research the blue cajun crays as to exactly what is triggering the blue coloration. Sounds like we're going to have some fun!

whoo! That sounds neat, please keep us updated as to the results.

[I thought about doing a similar genetic study of dwarf shrimp varieties. However, my lab sends its DNA samples out, and the cost would build up to something far beyond my means. Too bad, because I KNOW y'all would have been interested in those findings :-D ]

This project will be cheap because the college will pay for it. The Prof really liked this idea and knows of several of her students that will want to run with it.
