handicap lobster?

Post by Ecir »

A while ago I picked up an electric blue lobster at the petstore and he's been growing quite rapidly. His newest tank is a 20gallon and I thought it was secure but he pushed up the lid and jumped out in the middle of the night. When I found him in the morning he barely moved when I touched him and he floated when I put him in the tank but as soon as the filter water hit him he sprang to life and started grabing at everything to pull himself to the bottom again. It's been a few days since the accident(I've got a ziplock of gravel sitting on the lid now) and he seems to be doing fine but has issues finding his food now. When we feed him he still smells it, because he reacts instantly, but he fumbles around like a blind man when it comes time to pick it up. Did his near death experience mess him up? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

It may take a while for him to recover. If he is feeding, he should fully recover after the next molt.
