Post by Baby_Girl »

does anyone know this snail? This was posted on another forum I frequent. He wants to know if theyr'e safe to use as feeders for dwarf puffers.

He says they resemble horn or trumpet snails in that the shell spirals out to the side, though not as tightly as MTS. In addition, he claims it does not have an operculum. As you can see from the pics, it appears the smaller/juvenile snails don't quite have a triangular profile, unlike young MTS which are born looking like little horns already.

It looks kind of like a Japanese trapdoor snail, in terms of the large spiralling horn shape. But those guys have the operculum, obviously from the name.

Shell color, as far as he can tell, is all white with a few parallel brown stripes (along neighboring coils). Can sort of see this in the first pic.
