$200. That counts for the aquarium and supplies 10g, 50g, 29g, 1g, and two 10g tanks. I'd say I spent about $100-$150 on shrimp. (9) Tiger shrimp, (23 MAYBE MORE)? wild and captive cherry shrimp, (1)wood shrimp, (13)red nosed shrimp, (25) p. Paludosus, (23) p. Kadiakensis, and about five Macrobrachium sp. I also have some strange looking mysid. I also have about 2 species brackish water ghosts. (I think.) I have aquired many odd animals that would have gotten me jail time or a hefty fine, if i wouldn't have released them. I also took a vacation to california in early summer and captured about 23 california freshwater shrimp (Syncaris pacifica). Since they are a federaly endangered species I let them go before i travelled to oregon, the next stop on my roadtrip. I have also owned for a brief period of time some cave shrimp that a friend gave me
(see "Amazing shrimp story!). R.I.P. (ALSO ENDANGERED!) Yessir, I truly am "The Shrimp." !!!!!!!GONG!!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D

*however* even though i have alot of shrimp, i am a bad breeder. I have only bred captive red cherrys, ghosts, mysid, and had a friend help me rear my amanos, which was succesful. Once the shrimp i cant breed die my shrimp pop. will diminish.

"Rearing" shrimp--not much, just the price of food and the occasional bottle of spring water when tank water wasn't instantly available. The big investment for us since we already had tanks, filters, plants, logs, etc., was and still is the shrimps themselves and usually the shipping costs more than the shrimp. Once we have the shrimp, it hardly costs anything to raise them and breed them.
