Berried Malaya

Post by southerndesert »

Hello Mustafa and All,

Over the last couple days in the evenings my male Malayas have been buzzing all over the tank for a couple hours at a time then stop, then at it again. I expected a berried female yesterday morning after all the frantic swimming, but nothing. Everyone was fine and a molt was laying in the tank. But not from the one I expected by her behavior while the males were buzzing around (she is also the largest).

False alarm...

Last nights frenzy was even more dramatic and the little fellows about broke a speed record zipping around their tank and trying to tackle anything that moved while the females lazily foraged for food...except for one who was playing hide and seek. Yes it again was the largest female.

This morning there was the large molt on the substrate and she looks like this...

Not a very good photo as she is a bit shy and hanging out on the back of the filter forcing a back lit type photo, but clearly shows her to be berried.

Great news and nice picture :D

Two days ago my RCS babies hatched from their mother and last night I had the yellow shrimp babies hatch. It really does feel like Christmas :smt114

Seasons Greetings to All :!:

Thank you Pat,

If you don't mind me asking what type of shrimp are you raising at the moment.
