Hi, I'm doing well with raising Red Cherry Shrimp and am thinking of buying some Bee Shrimp. My question is- are there similar Bee Shrimp out there that grow to be different sizes. It says on here that they grow to 2.5-3.5 cm which is around 1 inch in my understanding. I have read online at aquarium domain that Bee Shrimp (Caridina cf. cantonensis) grow to 2 inches. The picture looks similar to the ones on here described as Caridina serrata. Both as titled as Bee Shrimp at the top. I did read a post on this forum that they can be kept with Red Cherry Shrimp. Will they bother each others young? I'm thinking that if the sizes are that different with some Bee Shrimp growing to be twice the size of the Red Cherries then there might be a problem. Either that or maybe that other web site has misinformation. The person selling them on ebay does not have the scientific name listed, just "Bee shrimp".
Thanks,
Moni

You hit the nail on the head. I just took a look at that website and description and...well...it looks like whoever put up that website and description has no idea about shrimp. That particular page about the bee shrimp has pictures of at least 2 different species, possibly three. The main picture is not even a bee shrimp. Anyway, there are tons of websites like that out there. I would not buy from people or websites that cannot give you reliable information. Chances are they are just as unknowledgeable when it comes to keeping and shipping shrimp.
In any case, the bee shrimp gets to be just about 2.5cm...sometimes 3 cm and slightly longer, but those are some really well fed, giant individuals.
