Mysterious Amano lookalike identity?

Post by Gsneufeld »

Hi there, first post! I love the site though, read quite a bit here.
So, I was at a local pet store for the first time the other day browsing and spotted some strange shrimp among the Amanos. They were all labelled Amano shrimp, so they must be some Caridina type contaminant. They looked just like regular Amano shrimp, but with red vertical stripes all along the body. I tried looking at pictures online, closest I could find were Caridina cf cantonensis 'red tiger', Caridina babaulti var. 'Malaya' and Caridina serrata 'red tupfel'. None seem like an exact match to me, but red tupfel might be closest? I apologize for the poor pic quality, you can sort of make out the stripes though, in person they are quite more vivid red. Thank you for any help!

Can't recognize anything on the pics. I'm just seeing outlines of shrimp in a big blur.

I know the pictures are from my cell, dont have any other camera sorry, I was just trying to show the stripe pattern on the body. If you open the picture in a new window, and zoom out to about 25% you can get a clearer picture of the shrimp. I think it's a "wild type" tiger shrimp...
