Type of water for making brackish water

Post by glowbug8 »

Hey guys,

New to the whole shrimp care thing--- wanted to know if spring water was okay for making brackish water or if it *has* to be distilled/RO.

Thanks!

Spring water is fine, too. Just no tap water. The only drawback, depending on the mineral content, of spring water may be that your tank water stays somewhat cloudy for longer. For more info just look up why marine aquarists recommend using RO/DI water to make up their saltwater. For replacing evaporated water I would still use RO or DI/Destilled water.
