some strange growth in H. rubra aquarium

Post by stonefox »

Hello

In my aquarium with H. rubra, is starting to get some strange growth that I have not seen before in some of my other aquariums with H. rubra.

See the picture.

Picture 1 and 2 shows how it looks in the beginning and images 3 and 4 and 5 show what it becomes.
They are completely white, approximately 5 cm wide max, and feels like a thread when I notice them. What is this? and is it harmful?

Very interesting, have you some snails in the tank? That looks like some nerite eggs.

Does the filaments retract when you touch them? Are the shrimps malking on them without been harm?

There is only a few plants or animals compatible with Opae Ula, it would be great to discover some fort of soft coral compatible with this brackish environement.
