Hello.
I'm posting in this section but I dont have any Opae Ula. Why then?
-Because I'm building the same setup for my shrimp that I would do for Opae Ula.
-Because I hope (not so) secretly to get some Opae Ula someday
-Because the shrimps I will breed in this tank will be (I think) great tank-mates for Opae Ula.
I'm talking about Mandarine Shrimps (Cardina thambipillai, ex C. cf. propinqua), sold as freshwater shrimps but in fact it's a euryhalin animal who can live in freshwater, brackish water or even reef tank... But breeding only at 1/2 marine salinity... Just like Opae Ula!
So there is my tank (17L/4.5gal), full of lava rock and dead coral. And with RO water and some plants who can (maybe) survive in a brackish water (Clado, Cerato, and Lomariopsis that survived in my sea monkey tank!). I will put the salt slowly after getting my Mandarine shrimp.
And yes the tank is a mess because it was an outdoor tank for a year. Its is juste next to my Malawa + Heterandria formosa tank.

Re: Mandarine shrimp setup!
How is it doing now? Any news?
Re: Mandarine shrimp setup!
This tank was transformed into a regular freshwater thank, then again in a brackish one. No mandarine shrimp ever lived in there because I finally found a french Opae Ula breeder and took him some. Maybe one day I will add some Mandarine shrimp to my thank since some petshops regularly import them.
