It's ok if you're willing to pay the almost $200 inspection fee to US Fish and Wildlife and pay somewhere between $70-$100 in shipping for a moderate number of shrimp (more shrimp = more water = more weight = higher shipping charges). :-D And no, there are no breeders in the UK or elsewhere in Europe (or anywhere really), unless you can find some hobbyists who are willing to part with some offspring privately. LOTS of people *claiming* to offer captive-bred shrimp though. As soon as one of them goes out of business or stops being deceptive, the next one steps up and makes the same claims....

I know [website address removed by admin] also sells opae and they also have a great forum. I cannot comment on if these shrimps are captive-bred or not...
But they are based in UK...

All imported shrimp from the wild, most likely caught illegally and shipped illegally, but nobody wants to usually admit that. That site was started by a guy who was extremely disruptive here in this forum and got banned years ago. I have removed the link to his site as to not promote the taking of these shrimp from the wild. I understand people in Europe and elsewhere want to have this species, too, but demand does not justify unethical and unsustainable practices in my opinion, especially if and once the popularity of these shrimp increases.

Generally importing plants depends on the individual country. I'm closing this thread as we want to discuss the actual shrimp here, not how to get them or shipping details etc.. If you have further questions you can message me or use the Contact link above.
