Baby Shrimp Question

Post by boucherh »

Hi All!

I've had my set up for about a year now and finally have 3 berried shrimp! I've looked through the message board and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for... Do I need to separate the babies once they hatch? Do I need to worry about the adults eating the babies? Anything else I should know about raising baby shrimp? Thanks!

The babies will be fine in with the adults. They will be free floating larvae for about 10 days and then morph into shrimp.

No worries, all fine together! Just remember there will be a period of time after they turn into tiny shrimp when they will seem to disappear entirely for a while. They are still there--just so tiny!

My tank just had 1 month old baby shrimp. My understanding is that the hatched shrimp will detect water movement and when there's a threat it will bounce around. Thus most likely adult shrimp will not mistake them as food. but if there are dropped eggs, that's good food for them. :D
