They are definitely some kind of insect larvae. Did they end up growing up or did you remove them before that? Mosquito larvae end up being as big or bigger than the shrimp before they turn into mosquitos. However, given the paucity of food in Supershrimp tanks, I doubt the larvae will make it to adulthood. In that case they'll just turn into food for the shrimp. :)

I removed maybe thirty worms. Some got to be about half the size of the shrimp but they just died off. Probably the lack of food supplies like you mentioned. I’m glad my shrimpies are undisturbed once again.
