4 gallon Bio Orb Crystal Looking Ball

Regarding the moss balls I recall reading another member with the same concern. It’s nothing to worry about, your moss balls are just fine. The oxygen they have produced via photosynthesis is caught inside causing the floating.

Interesting, thanks for the response. They both sank after a day or two of floating.
out of nowhere I've had all of these tiny bubbles form near the top of the tank on the sphere. I just thought it odd because for the past several weeks the tank has not had any bubbles that I noticed. any thoughts on what causes the bubbles to form?

Most likely oxygen or co2 produced by the plant life. The biofilm in the tank can form a thin slime coating that makes them last longer.

It's quite a bit of bubbles, i've rotated the tank barely and a bunch rise up from underneath the rocks. You were right bout the biofilm being there, i don't normally see it unless water has evaporated. Any reason to attempt to remove it? I've got 2 of these plant balls and one of the macroalgea, that's it for plants.

Remove the biofilm on the surface? No need, the shrimp like to graze on it.

My shrimp also seem to like skimming along just under the biofilm on the water surface. Fun to watch

So I haven't seen the berried shrimp today. When they release the babies, do they sink down into the substrate for a few days before becoming floaters?

They float from the get go. The berried shrimp is probably hiding.

I was actually able to watch one of mine releasing her young. They twitched and broke free, sunk for just a few seconds and then started moving upwards.

I just saw her again today, wasn't able to confirm how many berries but looked like a few more, not sure if that is possible.
