I have been letting my tank cycle for a month, and while there is no algae present I was wondering if I am able to buy some Opae Ula now. Ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite are at zero, and I have added macroalgae from the store here. I did do one 50% water change in the middle because I thought I had some chlorine present but I think the marine salt I have used is giving a false positive when I test the waters.
I plan to buy some spirulina powder so I can have a small additional food source I can feed them maybe every two weeks or so.
Is it time to buy some Opae Ula? I'm so excited to get them, but I'm not sure how much longer I would have to wait to actually get some visible algae in the tank.
Ready to buy shrimps?

Buy them. No need to wait any longer
