So sad, another one passed

Post by KiwiCordell »

After changing water, cleaning the substrate and getting lava rocks, another one of my adult passed.

Not sure if it happened after it molted but I'm just sad.

Was it one of the old or new ones? Also, what are those yellow rocks in your tank that I saw in the pic in your original thread/topic? The new shrimp should not be dying, but it is possible that some of the old ones still die due to being exposed to whatever toxin was in the water before. If they continue dying, then I would just start with a new substrate. Correct me if I am wrong but you seem to have used some dark gravel from the pet store in your substrate. This type of gravel is usually coated with something and meant for freshwater. The coating tends to come off over time unfortunately, and who knows how it may be reacting with the saltwater.

Lastly, it is better to continue posting about the same topic in your original thread/topic so people know what happened before and can reply more easily with some background knowledge. I'll leave this topic here for a while so you get to read it, but I am going to merge it with your original topic soon.

I believe it is one of the older shrimps. Also the “yellow rocks” are some of the calcium carbonate pebbles I purchased from pet shrimp. The big black gravel I have been slowly removing. Thanks Mustafa
