no algae growth

my aquarium is set up with an LED light and not close to a window. Can algae still grow in the aquarium? I feed my opae ula shrimp once a month with fish pellet. I have 14 opae ula shrimp in a 2.5 gallon tank. any pointers will be much appreciated.

Feed more often. The result is usually more algae......eventually. Be careful not to overfeed, though. How quickly do the shrimp consume the pellet? If they knock it out in an hour or two consider feeding once every two weeks and see how that works. Then after awhile try once a week if you still do not see algae. Baby steps.

I think they are good for an overall balance to the tank. Try some Malaysian Trumpet Snails.

I have been using spirlina powder that I got from a hermit crab food shop on Etsy. I feed my tank once a month or so with a tiny amount. It forms a green film on the surface of the water and it takes the shrimp 15 minutes or so to notice the food. They seem to get pretty excited about feeding day! It’s kind of a fun interaction.
