Very cool !!! What kind of lighting does the tank have?? I am at 8 months now with my 5.5 gallon tank and still NO visible algae growth. I have been feeding more frequently, about once a week, for last couple of months. Thanks.

Thanks. How long have you had it? The description says to leave the lights on 24/7 to prevent the plant from going sexual and disintegrating. Of course if it does that, the Opae Ula will just eat it up.

Thanks for the pics. I am surprised by the amount of algae you have. Whenever My tanks had that much it never lasted long because the shrimp devoured it quickly.

I am curious about your tanks nutrient loads to always have such algae coverage. Impressive.

It looks great after just 60 days. I assume you use either distilled or ro water with the marine salt of your choice and top off with either.

I'm just trying to figure out what is going on with your tanks to have such lush and constant growth.

Thanks

Do you have plans to remove the sponge filter at some point in time? All 12 of my tanks are flourishing too, plenty of breeding and so forth. Except my algae is at a minimum and my chaeto in all but 3 of the tanks is slowly withering away. Not a big deal as the shrimp eventually consume it.

Thanks

Looks fantastic. Where can I get some? I would like to try it in one of my tanks.

Thanks

What's your salinity? Even if that particular Caulerpa grows at lower salinity levels, they tend to go "sexual" at some point and melt all at the same time. Reef keepers can tell you all kinds of stories about that. A large reef tank may be able to absorb that kind of pollution, but a small shrimp tank...who knows what may happen.

Sorry to jump on the old thread but have you ever tested your nitrate levels? Curious if adding some plant fertilizer and raising the nitrates in a shrimpless tank would help algae growth in this situation. Seems like you’re one of the few people with great algae growth.

Also what’s your thoughts on adding spirulina? Would that addition help here too or would they be completely unrelated?
