Do Opae "saddle"?

Post by dglidden »

My jar is still only about three months old, but I notice a couple of the shrimp have what I would call a saddle in a freshwater shrimp. Do Opae ula get saddles before they develop eggs, or are they just happy and full of food?

You mean like these pics. I believe so. But unlike cherry shrimp for example they can be like this and not become saddled. I have quite a few like this but the amount that become berried is a low percentage.

Yep, that's about what mine look like! I guess they are just happy and full! The jar has pretty well cycled and the macroalgae is growing like a weed and algae is starting to show on the inside of the jar so they have plenty of food sources.
