Macroalgae

Post by tdwsaturn »

I have a 7gal cube tank w/ 10 shrimp. And the macroalgae took off and fills about 1/3 of the tank. It just looks so bad filling up *that* much of the tank. Would it be okay for me to remove a good portion of it? Also, should I add more shrimp?

You can remove most of it and leave a small portion. Just make sure to not remove shrimp with it as some shrimp tend to cling to the macroalgae for dear life, especially after molting.

As for more shrimp, if you can wait for your shrimp to reproduce and fill up a tank, then there is no need for more. However, 10 shrimp in a 7 gallon will probably look a bit too empty for a while, so you can add more shrimp if you want some "action" until your shrimp start reproducing.

Thanks for responding!

I'll definitely be looking at getting more when weather warms up just bit more in my area. Probably grab some more snails to help get the glass clean.

Hopefully they start to breed this summer
