Golden Opae Ula?

Post by Azuzota »

Hello,

I've had my Opae Ula for about a week now and many of them have molted! One of my paler shrimp shed and its color changed to this yellow-brown color that I don't see any mentions of anywhere. Is this normal? Should I be worried about anything or is it just cool?

I’ve noticed that when my older Opae molt, they change to a pale white for about 1 day.
I’ve never heard of a golden Opae.

Oh, they exist. See here:

As for the shrimp in this thread, it's just a temporary change of color. It will be back to red at some point. Truly yellow/orange shrimp are born that way.

Hi, I just found an opae shrimp that is golden yellow, checked online about it, found this forum = good to know it seems to be "normal" I have had them mutliplying for years. Most of my shrimp are now pale pink to clear, very few of the babies grow to be dark red which is what I started with, so to find a golden opae is a real treat.
