can bracky ball become a mat?

Post by Tiny Ocean »

Has anyone here had Mustafa's brackish moss balls break down and become a mat or flat mass attached to a substrate?

Years ago I broke up a couple bracky balls and used them to try to inoculate some ceramic filter media balls -- hoping to convert two very pricy little bracky balls into the appearance of a dozen larger ones for tank ornaments. The light coating of algae that grew very very slowly over them may or may not have been the same alga. I tend to think it might have been, given that the usual unwanted tank scum algae grow a lot faster. Due to unfortunate life events I had to give up that tank so I was unable to complete the experiment.

Has anyone here had the bracky balls convert to a flat mat or attach to anything or surround anything? Do you have photos?
