I've just put in a few red cherry, tiger & blue shrimps into my tank. A friend who also keeps these shrimps has asked me to add black water to my tank and says that this will keep the mortality rate down. I already have a few Yamato shrimps in there.
I'm wondering if this is true. I don't like that it makes my water look brownish but if it helps...
Thanks in advance.

It's totally unnecessary. So don't do it.

Water containing organic acids like tannins that come from decaying plant matter. It is common in the Amazon and parts of SE Asia

Contains trace elements, vitamins and extract of peat. It is intended to replicate blackwater conditions in the aquarium.
