Java Girl, please let me know the phone number or e-mail address I can reach them for the CRS? Are they really legit? I can handle the amount for the minimum order. Thank you.

I think you are talking about Wet Pets & Friends (not Rainbow Fish). For freshwater shrimps, I know they have ghost shrimps and crayfish (and blue lobsters sometimes). I should take a close look ...

When did you see the crystal red shrimps? I should go to the store in the evening and see if they have CRS now. If not, maybe I can ask the owner to do a special order for me.

Thanks for the valuable information.

Yeah, it is Wet Pets and Friends. They carry cherries and amanos in store, they will make orders for you if you ask. They ordered me 20 black kuhli loaches before and I got them in only 2 weeks. And you know how hard it is to get black kuhli loaches :)

Bear in mind that CRS are not widely available. Hard to get=more expensive. Plus, even if you order, you have to take into account shipping costs, which isn't cheap either. $5-6 is reasonable.
The cost of CRS won't be as cheap as cherry shrimp, even the lowest grade CRS will not be as cheap as cherry. Simply, CRS are much more difficult to breed and keep.

I just had over 200 pieces of self bred CRS ranging for C to S ruined by an unknown reason.

Another one, green shrimps, they are more hardy then red cherry, and breed like hare.
It's a funny thing with the cherries. You'd think since they are so easy to breed, they're so available, and the price would be cheap (pretty color and all). And if they were difficult to breed, they would be more scarce and cost more per piece. But one of the major selling points of cherries is precisely that they are so easy to breed. Apparently that's enough to get people to buy at such inflated prices.

As for Greens, maybe it depends on your setup, climate, or water quality. Or I got a bum batch. Cherries have definitely beeen the hardier species for me. I did go and buy 10 Greens for $30, also with promise of berried individuals included. Shipment came with 2 free extra Cherries (+3 baby stowaway Cherries), all alive, yet 4 of 10 Greens were DOA. Weeks later, 3 more adult Greens are gone, I saw a Green hatchout, and then saw all baby Greens die off (as far as I can see).
The 5 free Cherries are doing fine. The Cherry babies that came in the shipment, fine - The Greens that hatched out in my tank, more or less all dead :?
So I payed $30 for 10 Greens and end up with 3. Payed $0 for 5 Cherries and still have those 5. They will probably survive, and they'll probably breed.

As for the Greens... I still have have hope that I have at least 1 female and 1 male. And they seem healthy. So there's some hope :!:

UPDATE:

I'm still pursuing this group purchase with the vendor. However, shipping snags are holding up the order. I'm still trying to work out a reliable delivery method to me. I'll post updates as they are available. Thanks!

You'll have to take this offline. Trying to organize a group purchase has nothing to do with discussing information about shrimp. This thread is now officially closed.
