Hi all been lurking here for a while now and have setup my first shrimp only tank - only thing is we can't get RCS or any other neocaridinia hardly at all here so...
Mustafa I know you don't ship your shrimp to international customers but ther are a few people either in US or Asia who advertise air shipping (I guess most US aquabid deliveries are airshipped to customers all over the US as well?). What are your opinions on this? I can get hold of RCS extremely expensively from a UK based mailorder store but surely these have been shipped form Asia anyway or I can get them a lot cheaper direct from US/Asia?? I do want to do the best thing in order to get healthy and happy shrimp so what should I do?

Today I received my order from http://www.interaquaristik.de, 10 rednose shrimp. I got the site details emailed to me by someone who read about here. they can answer questions in english and google will tranlate the whole site.
It's a 2 day journey from Germany to the UK and all except one arrived alive. I think only 9 were shipped but they're so tiny it's hard to count. I can certainly see 8 live ones racing around my tank. Active and assertive little things.
It's too soon to be sure they are healthy. I hope they survive the next few days.
I have heard other people had less success with this company, especially if they live in an area that takes more than 2 days to ship to. It cost about £12 to ship by DHL, cheaper than I expected (but not as cheap as Mustafa.
)
Mustafa, is that your friend? If not would you let me know his/her details? It's almost impossible to buy CRS here and I would like to try ordering from abroad again.
Sif, do you have a World of Water near you? It's part of a garden centre chain and my local one (timperley, south manchester) is superb. They get bags of shrimp in at least once a month. I've bought cherry reds, asian (bamboo/wood) filter feeding shrimp and even giant african filter feeders (at £9 a shrimp). In the past they've had other, unidentified small shrimp, various neocaridina types.
I've asked a few local shops and they say their importers will only sell huge quantities like 1,000 shrimp. Some of the chain stores will put in an order then split them up between 20 shops.

Thanks for that fatboy, I have a WoW about 30 miles away but they don't have any RCS at the moment... I'm sure Mustafa won't mind if I tell you the German website is http://www.gerdvoss.de. I emailed him and he hasn't ever shipped to the UK but has had no problems with France or Holland (apparently Spain was a nightmare but that figures!)... I'm very tempted as the choice and prices look very good. Trimar are getting some in but they charge £3.75 each and £10 delivery...
The reasone I usually do not post any website names openly in the forum is because I have a policy against any request to buy or offer of shrimp for sale in this forum. This "international shipping" thread is right at the border of this policy. The reason I do not want these requests and offers is because I want the forum to focus on exchange of information instead of buying and selling shrimp. So I am ask that any searching for shrimp and offering shrimp is done "offline" through private messages and email instead of publicly.
Sorry Mustafa, I just pointed him in that direction for information purposesMustafa wrote:The reasone I usually do not post any website names openly in the forum is because I have a policy against any request to buy or offer of shrimp for sale in this forum.
