Cherry shrimp color

I bought 12 shrimp maybe 8-10 (maybe even a year) months ago. Now I have about 50-100 in my tank. What I have noticed is that I don't see the really bright red shrimps that I use to have before. They are not sick, but they just are not as bright as before.

Unless specifically bred for, I would think the red could fade away, much as breeding any other animal.
