I just got a delivery from our LFS of 10 cherry shrimp, 6 amanos, 2 vampire (one is in bad shape), 6 green and 6 "rainbow", meaning a mix of shrimp...there is where the unknown comes in. One of the "rainbow" shrimp looks like a long arm of some kind. Since none are larger than a half inch I'm having trouble with this one.
He's just under half an inch, clear with the beginnings of alternating black stripes (vertical) along his body and he has arms that reach out unlike the algae eating shrimp. The claws on his arms are pure white. He immediately took up a small territory under a piece of bogwood and chases off anything that comes within a couple of inches. I can't find him on the net.
Any help? Want to make sure he won't harm any of my other shrimps!
Unknown Shrimp, help!

Re: Unknown Shrimp, help!
It's practically impossible to identify Macrobrachium spp., especially juveniles, from written descriptions. In many cases, only detailed physical examination of the actual specimen will suffice. Can you provide an image?
