I can see the eyes on the berried ghost, that had green eggs when I got her. They should hatch very very soon! I have her isolated in a breeding trap so I can raise the Larvae.
A really bad pic:
Heres a berried cherry:
Do the orange/yellow eggs mean they are close to hatching?
2 of them, to be exact. 3 more are still hatching. The female only had 5 eggs. After they all hatch i'll remove the female from the breeding trap, to raise the young. I'll probably move 'em to another container with a sponge filter. Now to find food for them...
The bad news is that I think the mom ate 3 of them during the night. I am down to 2. I probably should have moved her last night, but there was still one baby hatching. Either she ate them, or they escaped through a small opening in the breeding trap. I had a layer of sand covering the vents in the bottom, but one vent was exposed throughout last night, so they may have escaped into the main tank. If they did escape, who knows, maybe they will find food in the Java moss.
I'm about to move the 2 larvae into a seperate container. I'm going to try baby formula to feed them, as Newjohn suggested to me. I'll try very tiny amounts of it, like he said.
Baby formula is really all I have access too right now.
I could try grinding up algae wafers or fish flakes too.
OK I lied...I don't have baby formula. I'm using ground up liquified fish flakes instead. I ground them up in a plastic baggie, then added water and mushed it around a while until it was mostly liquid, there are still tiny flakes though. I added maybe 5 drops of it to the container.
Hopefully the larvae are eating it. They do seem to have the "food chunk" visible, like in adults after they are feeding.
*crosses fingers*
Oh, and if your wondering, no I don't have anything better to do today . Actually, i'm not feeling well right now. Spending most of the day with my shrimps should make me feel better
Sorry I haven't updated in a while...I've had a puffer fish emergency which required nearly all my attention.
The 2 larvae are still alive, and appear to be doing well. I didn't know it was possible, but both of them have molted once. They are still larvae though. I can take pics of the molts to prove it.

No need to prove. Larvae go through several larval stages before turning into postlarvae. Every time before they enter a new larval stage they molt.
Hope things continue to go well with your two larvae and they make it to the postlarvae stage! Sorry to hear about your puffer fish emergency. Keep us updated, it is always good to hear from you.
