I am not sure what a "Carapace " is. I am still trying to learn the body parts of Shrimp.

Those are not male traits in general. The male shrimp will only perform their "mating swim" when there is a freshly molted mature female around. At other times they act the same way as the females.

By the way, that shrimp you are suspecting to be a male does not look like it's going to be around all that much longer. It has a very milky coloration which is always a sign of trouble. Either way, it's extremely hard to find male red cherries in stores as almost all imported red cherries are usually female. I've stated the reasons for this on several threads before so you might want to search for it.

hum...i'm really tired...this was a really harsh week at school so i'm too lazy to search right now xP

but oritey...well...i just bought a bunch of crs juveniles off the internet, not mustafa's (bought them and then found this site -_-')..

so yeah...a bunch of these shrimp are red or at least have some red on it. but the biggest one doesn't have any red on it (it's maybe 1/3-1/2 an inch long) and i was wondering if this was possibly another shrimp? i know this seller sells rainbow shrimp and i'm wondering if one of those could have been put in by accident..

just an update
the shrimp in question must be male, i have 10 babies approx 5mm long and some of them already have red colouration to them

does this suggets i have been lucky in getting shrim with intense colouration?
i thought that young shrimp were supposed to be paler?

how long for a milky shrimp to be a dead shrimp
as proposed i have not seen anything else i consider male in the fish shops near me
then again cherry reds are relatively new to my local fish shops

hopefully the milky one will hold in there to breed a few more times and i may get some home grone males
anything in shrimp that determines sex ratio like T and pH in apsito's?

Not really. Young red cherries are red everywhere in the world, just not as red as the adults in most cases.

Impossible to say. Could be days, weeks or even months.

Not that I know of. At least I have not seen any studies that suggest this.
