Ok the nitrate is 10 but how about ammonia and nitrite?

Sorry you lost another shrimp......but if you can get to grips with the water you'll be keeping them successfully before you know it.

If you test only one parameter, test nitrite !!!
Nitrate can already be present in water before you put in tank

Get a real sponge to cover the filter intake. It will be less likely for baby shrimp to get sucked through it.

As for landscaping, I would add some driftwood and other plants.

Ummm....sorry..but isn't this getting a "little" off-topic here? This question is better asked in an aquarium plants forum.

Nitrate

Follow this link to remove all the nitrate from your system
http://aquaripure.com/
I've had this system in a 30 gal tank for move than a year and it works. :D

I don't mean to be rude but I would test your tank for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates before adding more shrimp.

If your tanks not cycled you are basically throwing money away and putting shrimp through suffering they need not go through.

Topic closed, as the discussion has really nothing to do anymore with the original title of the thread thanks to the "kindly advise me on landscaping" request.
