Hmmm, well you both make good points.
It sounds like i'll have to see what works good for me and my setup.
Yep, lots of great information here. I speant about an hour and a half last night reading old Glass shrimp threads.

If I don't see eggs, I start to think something is wrong. If I do, how bad can it be?
Good point badflash, if they are breeding then conditions are right.

I kept about 15 american ghost shrimp in a 5 gallon tank for over a year.
I didn't see issues.
or
I wouldn't do it with what I know now because it must not have been nice for them.
It all depends on your point of view.

Hi everyone,
I just got some Cajun dwarfs from Mustafa and one of them has already killed and eaten one of my juvie cherries, they were in transited for a while so they may be hungry.... but then why did they did they just not go for the shrimp pellets.

Awww, i'm sorry to hear that TKD. Hopefully they were just hungry from being in-transit like you said.

After I received My Dwarf Cajuns From Mustafa.
It was around 3 week Later The Females Started Carring Eggs.

The Shrimp were treating me great, Then I had to get into Crayfish.
Just another learning curve, to get over. and then hopefuly off to the races.

TKD sorry to hear about the cherries. I hope the crays will stop this behavior once they get use to the new tank and eating prepared foods. You can ask Mustafa what he feeds them

Opportunity more than anything else I think. The juvie may also have been weak for one reason or another. I've seen the same behavior in ghost shrimp. The other shrimp will learn quickly to stay clear. If the cray senses an easy meal, that is that. I've never seen my actively chase any of my shrimp, but you'll not see any bodies either.

I know of one of the crays was actively trying to catch a cherry. It went over top of a few pellets a few times so I'm not sure what that means.

They don't hunt for shrimp. They are territorial and will chase a shrimp away. However, if they happen to catch the shrimp and the shrimp is too weak to get away, they will injure it and eat it. They are opportunists after all. When keeping dwarf crays and shrimp together one needs to employ some common sense. The tank should be large enough lots of hiding spaces. If the bottom of your tank is stuffed with crayfish and the shrimp get attacked (due to territorial behavior...NOT hunting) the moment they land on the bottom, then they will die of stress sooner or later and become a meal.
