If I could get hold of some different types of shrimp I would but not only am I limited by availability but also PH. I discussed taking the tank down but hubby thinks it would be a shame to.

I might change the substrate to sand and see how the PH sits.

I've already done that. The last resort would be to hire an electrician to add more outlets, but I live in an apartment.

I run all my tanks off of outlet strips, don't have nearly enough outlets for all the filters, heaters, lights, etc. Since most aquarium items don't use much power, you can run 2 tanks off 1 outlet (with the strips) without overloading the circuit breaker/s.

Just an update:

Boy when you guys are right, you're RIGHT. After moving and settling in, and getting my cherries settled into their new home, I decided that I'd see what turning up the heat would do. I put a heater in their tank, adjusted it to 75F, and a week later, three females have berried up, and the one that was berried up dropped a batch of young.
